This pre-application does not obligate you or SMHA in any way. Eligibility for income limits, criminal activity, money owed to PHAs, and other criteria will be determined at a later date.

You MUST have the following information available for each family member before you begin the application process:

  • Last name, first name, middle initial
  • Mailing address
  • Phone number
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Income information for each family member


If you do not have access to a computer, they are available at your local public library and at many local social service agencies. (Paper applications will not be available)

Public Housing:

North Park Estates - Phase I

SMHA would like to announce the opening of the North Park Estates - Phase I waiting list for Public Housing and Project Based Voucher units located at 1746 Martin Luther King Blvd. Gulfport, MS. 39501.

Only paper applications will be accepted for this site at Good Deeds Community Center located at 15101 Madison St. Gulfport, MS. 39501 from 8am-4pm on February 17, 2022.

Pre-applications will also be available at any MRHA VIII office.

Section 8:

South Mississippi Housing Authority will begin accepting online pre-applications for the Section 8 Tenant-Based Voucher waiting list on February 17, 2022, at 8:00 am. Applications will be limited. The online application waiting list will automatically disable once the limit has been reached. Applications will be processed by the date and time submitted. The head of household must have the legal capacity to enter into a lease under state and local law. A minor who is emancipated under state law may be designated as head of household. Proof of emancipation as of the date of this application will be required at the interview appointment.
